Quick answer

How should you play Elite Stronghold?

Play Elite Stronghold like a pressure map. Drop with a clear squad split, secure one close-range weapon and one mid-range option, then move as a group before third parties collapse on the fight. Reload lets teammates return as long as one player stays alive, so survival discipline matters as much as damage.

Epic introduced Elite Stronghold on April 20, 2026 as a Reload map with POIs including Elite Armory, Chiseled Cubes and Hostile Hold. The update also brought a fresh loot pool, a Reload rank reset, new ranked rewards and Map Mastery Quests. That makes the map important for both aggressive squads and reward grinders.

The best Elite Stronghold drop is not always the hottest POI. It is the drop your squad can clear, reset and rotate from without losing the last teammate.
Map update

What changed with Fortnite Reload Elite Stronghold?

Elite Stronghold gave Reload a new map identity: tighter fights, cube-themed weapons and a ranked climb that started fresh. Epic said the map would be the only Reload map until it joined rotation with Venture and Slurp Rush on April 30, so players had a clear window to learn its routes quickly. Always check the current in-game rotation before treating any route as permanent.

New mapElite Stronghold became the headline Reload battlefield.
New POIsElite Armory, Chiseled Cubes and Hostile Hold give squads different pressure profiles.
Fresh lootCube Rifle and unvaulted weapons changed how early fights played.
New climbReload ranks reset, making early ranked games more chaotic and valuable.
Drop choice

Best Elite Stronghold POIs by squad style

Epic names the major POIs, but the best drop depends on how your squad actually wins fights. Do not copy a hot-drop route if your team needs time to sort weapons and shields. Reload punishes messy first fights because one surviving teammate decides whether the squad gets another chance.

POIBest forHow to play it
Elite ArmoryAggressive squads that want early loot and immediate pressure.Land compact, call weapons fast and avoid splitting into separate duels.
Chiseled CubesTeams that want cube-themed fights and awkward angles.Use cover, hold right-hand peaks and expect third parties after the first knock.
Hostile HoldSquads comfortable contesting a named zone without full chaos.Clear one side first, then rotate together instead of chasing solo tags.
Edge dropsTeams that value placement stability and safer reboots.Loot quickly, avoid late rotates and enter fights with a full team.
Loot priority

Weapons and loot that matter most

Epic highlighted the Cube Rifle, which can fire a rail beam or launch a detonatable cube. It also announced the Cube Splitter for v40.30, described as a fast-firing SMG that attaches exploding cubes to opponents. The same update also brought unvaults such as the Gatekeeper Shotgun, Holo-Twister Assault Rifle and Seven Power Gloves.

In practical Reload terms, the priority is still balance. A squad with four awkward long-range weapons can lose the first close fight. A squad with only shotguns can get held outside safe angles. Build around roles, not random loot greed.

  • Give your best close-range player a reliable shotgun first.
  • Keep at least one mid-range weapon for beams and third-party control.
  • Use cube weapons to break stale cover patterns instead of dry-pushing every box.
  • Share mobility and healing so one player can survive if the fight collapses.
Ranked rewards

Reload rank reset and Elite Stronghold rewards

Epic said all Reload ranks were reset with Elite Stronghold. The season reward path included Tough Triggerfish Spray at Gold, Banner Icon at Platinum, Triggerfish Alert Emoticon at Diamond, Reloaded Seven Axe Pickaxe at Elite, Diago’s Tech Wrap at Champion and Charged Pickaxe at Unreal.

Epic also said a Victory Royale in Ranked or Unranked Reload unlocks the New Seven Brella Reloaded. Map Mastery Quests on Elite Stronghold unlock rewards such as Jules the Fixer and Determined Daigo Sprays, Stay Elite and Git Gud Emoticons, Elites Issue Wrap and Re-Loading Emote.

Ranked tip

Fortnite Ranked support says Reload has separate rank progression. Your Reload rank does not automatically mirror Battle Royale or Zero Build rank, so treat the climb as its own mode.

Drop plan

A simple Elite Stronghold drop route

The cleanest Reload starts are not complicated. Pick a side of the POI, land close enough to trade, and call your first usable weapon. If two teammates land on the same chest while the other two drift away, the first fight becomes a coin flip.

PhaseSquad goalCommon mistake
LandingClaim one side together and split loot quickly.Four players landing on four separate angles.
First knockPush as a group or hold the body for pressure. One player chasing while the rest are still looting.
After fightHeal, reload, share ammo and move before the third party arrives.Standing in old boxes and sorting loot too long.
Squad plan

How to rotate and fight on Elite Stronghold

Reload rewards teams that can fight hard without losing all four players at once. One teammate staying alive can keep the match alive, so the worst mistake is turning every early fight into four isolated ego duels.

Before landingPick a POI side, not just a POI name. Everyone should know the first building or angle.
First fightCall weapon quality and shields before pushing. A weak teammate should anchor, not lead.
Mid gameMove after knocks instead of looting every box while another squad rotates in.
End gameProtect the last alive player. A reset is often better than a low-chance trade.
Avoid this

Mistakes that ruin Elite Stronghold games

  • Dropping the hottest POI with no split plan.
  • Chasing one cracked player while the squad loses reboot protection.
  • Ignoring cube weapons because they feel unfamiliar.
  • Looting too long after a knock instead of resetting position.
  • Playing Reload like normal Battle Royale and forgetting the respawn condition.
  • Letting one teammate carry all heals, utility or mobility.
Account readiness

Why account setup still matters in Reload

If you are comparing Fortnite accounts, Reload is another reason to care about more than skins. The account should fit your platform, have stable access and be secured before you start grinding ranked rewards. A stacked locker feels better when the account setup is clean.

Before buying or building an account, check platform fit, email access, 2FA readiness and whether the cosmetics actually match how you play. Reload rewards are nice, but the account should still be usable and comfortable every day.
