What is VCT China Stage 2 2026?
VCT China Stage 2 is the region’s final league stage before Champions Shanghai. Twelve teams play in two groups of six. The top two from each group advance directly to Playoffs, while the other eight enter Play-Ins with two National Cup teams. The Stage 2 winner and runner-up qualify directly for Champions.

Upcoming VCT China Stage 2 matches
Week 2 begins with the previously idle teams entering the race. Match times depend on your location, so the official VCT schedule is the safest source for the local start time. The dates and matchups below were checked on July 13.
The listed group matches continue through July 23. The official schedule then reserves July 24 through July 26 for the same-seed decider series. Later Play-In and Playoff pairings remain dependent on results.
All 12 VCT China Stage 2 teams
Stage 2 reshuffles the Stage 1 groups. Alpha contains six teams led early by TYL, while Omega contains six teams led early by DRG. Every team plays the other five teams inside its group once in a best-of-three.
TYLOO Gaming, Nova Esports and FunPlus Phoenix opened inside the top half.

How VCT China Stage 2 moves from groups to Playoffs
The event has four connected phases. Group results first separate direct Playoff teams from the Play-In field. Decider matches settle the final ordering between teams holding the same seed in opposite groups. Play-Ins then reduce ten teams to four survivors before an eight-team Playoff bracket decides the finalists.
Two six-team groups play a single round robin. Every match is best-of-three.
Matching Alpha and Omega seeds play best-of-three series to finalize order.
Eight league teams and two National Cup teams fight for four Playoff places.
Eight teams enter a double-elimination bracket with two direct Champions spots.
The top two from each group are the four direct Playoff entrants. The remaining eight league teams move to Play-Ins. In the final Playoffs, most matches are best-of-three, while the lower final and grand final are best-of-five.
Why the VCT China Play-In is different
VCT China does not use the same four-Challenger setup described for the other International Leagues. Its official event page lists the bottom eight league teams plus the top two National Cup teams, creating a ten-team double-elimination bracket.
Every team outside the top two in its group enters the Play-In route.
The best two eligible National Cup teams join the survival bracket.
The four survivors join the four direct entrants in Stage 2 Playoffs.
The first four Play-In seeds receive a first-round upper-bracket bye. Every Play-In match is a best-of-three, so one group-place improvement can produce a meaningful bracket advantage even when direct Playoff entry is already out of reach.
How VCT China qualifies for Champions Shanghai
China sends four teams to Champions Shanghai. The Stage 2 winner and runner-up claim the two direct slots. The highest two remaining eligible teams in Championship Points take the other two places. That makes every regular-season win valuable even before the Playoff bracket begins.
The direct route removes all uncertainty: reach the final and qualify. The points route rewards the entire season, but teams must wait for the direct qualifiers to be removed from the eligible points order before the final two places are clear.

A direct Playoff place avoids a ten-team bracket and protects more preparation.
These matches settle bracket order and can create a much cleaner next opponent.
A single regular-season win or top-four finish can move the final eligible order.
