Every territory has the same four Champions spots
The cleanest way to understand VCT 2026 qualification is to stop treating every match as a separate scenario. Americas, EMEA, Pacific and China each receive the same four Champions Shanghai places. Two reward current Stage 2 Playoff form. Two reward season-long consistency through Championship Points.

This is more than an extra round. Established teams have to reveal maps and adaptation plans before Playoffs, while Challenger teams arrive with momentum and a clear upset target. A famous name can therefore be mathematically alive and still face a much harder path than the group table first suggests.
A top-two Stage 2 finish is the direct Champions route
The four direct group qualifiers and four Play-In survivors create an eight-team Stage 2 Playoff field. The two finalists qualify for Champions Shanghai. For teams sitting near the Championship Points cut line, reaching the final also removes every dependency on results elsewhere.

Challenger teams can reach Champions through the same final bracket
VCT 2026 expands the open path by sending four Challenger teams from each territory toward the Stage 2 Play-In. If an eligible Challenger team survives Play-Ins and then reaches the Stage 2 final, it earns a direct Champions Shanghai spot. The last step is the same: finish top two in the territory’s Playoffs.
