Best Ways to Spend Renown in R6 After the Marketplace Changes

Renown remains useful, but Marketplace is closed

Ubisoft’s June 30 update says Marketplace remains closed while its security and economy foundations are rebuilt. Saving Renown can still make sense for operators or an officially returning older collection, but it is not a current trading strategy.

Renown is no longer just event-pack fuel

Many Siege players treated Renown as the currency you saved for operators, cosmetics and limited-time pack chances. The Season 3 economy direction makes that habit less reliable for the newest event collections, while the closed Marketplace removes any reason to save it for active trading.

That does not make Renown useless. It means Renown should be spent with a plan: account readiness first, cosmetics second, and hype purchases last.

Spend Renown on operators you will actually use

A ranked-ready account needs a practical roster more than it needs a random event cosmetic. If you are missing key roles, Renown is usually better spent on operators that fill real holes in your attacker and defender pool.

Think in roles, not names. Hard breach, flank watch, denial, information, plant support, roaming control and site anchor options all matter more than collecting a character you will never queue.

Older returning collections can still be worth it

Ubisoft says older collections can return with dual-currency options. That keeps Renown meaningful for players who are patient and care about older event cosmetics.

The smart move is to wait for collections you actually want. Spending Renown on every available pack just because it exists usually leaves you short when a better collection appears.

Be careful with event hype

Events create pressure because the shop feels temporary. That is exactly why you should decide before buying: are you chasing one specific cosmetic, or are you just opening packs because the timer is running?

If the item you want is a direct R6 Credit purchase, Renown may not help. If the item belongs to an older returning collection and Ubisoft officially brings it back with dual-currency options, Renown can be more useful.

How Renown affects account value

A large Renown balance can be a nice bonus, but it is not a replacement for secure access, platform fit, region fit, useful operators and real inventory proof.

When comparing R6 accounts, treat Renown as flexibility. It can help the next owner unlock missing operators or chase returning content, but it should not be the main reason to trust a listing or a promise of Marketplace profit while trading is closed.

Simple Renown priority list

First, fix your operator pool. Second, keep some Renown available for officially announced returning collections. Third, avoid burning everything on packs you do not care about.

If you already own a strong roster and only care about cosmetics, Renown becomes a patience currency. Wait for the right return instead of spending from boredom.

A simple Renown plan for different account types

A new or thin account should spend Renown on playable depth first. That means operators for ranked roles, not random cosmetics. A stacked account with most operators unlocked can afford to wait for older collections or small cosmetic upgrades that fit the inventory.

For buyers, Renown balance should be read as optional flexibility. It is useful if the account is otherwise clean, but it should never distract from region, platform, secure access, rank readiness and visible inventory proof. A high balance on a messy account is still messy.
