Quick answer

Open Career, then Replays, then play the selected file. Rename important matches before an update.

From the Fortnite lobby, choose Career at the top, select Career again on the left, open Replays in the bottom-right corner, choose a file and press Play. Replays are tied to the game version that made them, so select and rename any important replay in the browser before a major update changes access.

Replay browser

Open the match file from Career in six clicks.

The replay browser belongs to the Fortnite lobby's Career path. Use this route instead of hunting through Discover or general Settings; those areas do not contain the match-file list.

Launch Fortnite

Reach the normal lobby first. Replays are accessed from the lobby, not from the middle of a live match.

Select Career at the top

Open the top-level Career entry shown in the Fortnite interface.

Select Career on the left

Use the Career item in the left-side navigation to reach the relevant page.

Choose Replays

Select the Replays button in the bottom-right corner to open the replay browser.

Pick the file

Choose the replay you want to inspect. Check its date and mode before you enter it.

Select Play

Start the file, then use it to review a rotate, fight, decision or other single question from the match.

Recording state

Check that Replay Mode is actually enabled before diagnosing a missing match.

The replay feature can be switched on or off. Epic's current instruction is to open Settings, go to the GAME tab and scroll to the REPLAYS settings group at the bottom.

Replay settings are off

Turn the feature back on in the GAME tab before recording a new match. An off setting explains why a later match does not appear.

PC HUD looks wrong

While a replay is playing on PC, Epic says pressing H cycles through HUD modes. Cycle until the view you need appears, then toggle it on.

Controller cannot rename a replay

Epic is investigating a virtual-keyboard issue for controller users. Connect a keyboard to the device or console to rename a replay as a workaround.

Save the World is not included

Epic says the Replay system is not available in Fortnite Save the World. Do not treat that absence as a failed setting.

Version protection

Save the match while it is still useful, not after the patch.

Replays are tied to the Fortnite version that recorded them. Once an update lands, an old replay can no longer be playable in the same way. The practical protection step is simple: identify the match first, then select it in the replay browser and rename it to save it.

Flag the match immediately

After a match worth studying, open the replay browser while its context is fresh. Name it for the question you want to answer, such as final-zone rotate or early fight.

Rename to save

Epic's save action is a rename in the replay browser. Do this before an update, not when you discover the replay is already unavailable.

Review before the update window

Use the saved match promptly. Replay compatibility is version-sensitive, so it is not a long-term substitute for an exported video clip.

Keep a tight naming system

Use a short date, mode and learning point. A useful name is faster to find than a vague highlight label when the replay list fills up.

Important distinction: saving a replay keeps it identifiable in the browser, but the replay system still depends on the Fortnite version that recorded it. Review important moments before the version changes.
Limits

Use the right expectations for your platform and replay library.

Epic lists the Replay feature on PC, PlayStation and Xbox. The storage allowance differs by platform, which matters when you want to preserve a study library rather than just watch the latest match.

PlayStation and Xbox10 saved replays

Epic says these consoles can save a total of 10 replay files. Make every saved slot intentional.

PCNo replay-count limit stated

Epic lists no maximum replay count on PC, though disk space and organization are still your responsibility.

File sizeAbout 10 MB

Epic estimates a replay lasting an entire match at approximately 10 MB, useful context for a tidy library.

Availability is not universal: Epic's support page names PC, PlayStation and Xbox, and separately says Save the World does not have the Replay feature. Check the live GAME > REPLAYS setting if the UI is different after an update.
Review routine

Use every replay to answer one decision question.

Replay Mode becomes useful when you give it a narrow task. Avoid trying to relive every second; instead, review the moment that changes the next match's decision.

One rotate

Watch the route from the first sign of pressure to the next safe position. Identify where information or timing was missing.

One fight

Start before first contact and stop after the outcome. Check positioning, cover, third-party exposure and the exit plan.

One resource choice

Review a moment where loot, heals, mobility or inventory changed the team's options. Keep the lesson specific enough to use tomorrow.

One change for next game

Write a single repeatable adjustment. A replay review is complete when it produces a practical decision, not just a highlight.

Troubleshooting

Identify which replay condition failed before you erase anything.

Most replay problems have a narrow cause: an unavailable mode, the feature switched off, a previous-version file, a platform limit or a controller keyboard issue.

The replay menu is empty

Open GAME settings and verify the REPLAYS group is enabled, then complete a fresh supported match before checking Career again.

An old replay will not play

Check whether Fortnite updated since the match. The replay is version-sensitive; review and rename important files before future updates.

You cannot rename on controller

Use a keyboard connected to the device or console. Epic identifies the virtual keyboard as a known controller workaround case.

Save the World has no file

This is expected. Epic states the Replay system is unavailable for Save the World, so there is no Replay setting to repair for that mode.

Keep the intent clean

Replay Mode is for reviewing a match, not every Fortnite record.

This guide stops at the in-game replay workflow. Career statistics, Ranked improvement and visual-audio awareness have different search intents and deserve separate answers instead of one sprawling page.
