Fortnite Gyro Aiming: Move. Aim. Lock.
Enable motion aiming, choose when it activates, tune sensitivity and learn exactly how Flick Stick and aim assist interact in Fortnite.
What Fortnite Gyro Aiming actually does
Gyro Aiming reads supported motion input and moves the in-game camera when the controller or device rotates. The right stick can still handle broad camera turns while gyro handles smaller corrections that are difficult to reproduce with a thumbstick.
It is not aim automation. Your hands still control every movement, and the result depends on sensitivity, Active Mode and how steadily you hold the controller. Epic describes gyro as a precision option that can supplement normal stick aiming rather than replace it immediately.
How to turn on Gyro Aiming in Fortnite
Epic’s current support article uses a short route. The Touch and Motion tab only appears when the active platform and input context expose supported motion controls.
Connect the intended motion-capable controller before opening the settings.
Use the gear menu from the Lobby or while testing in a safe experience.
This tab contains Gyro Options, active modes, sensitivity and Flick Stick.
Move the controller gently and confirm the camera responds.
Keep normal vertical right-stick control while learning motion corrections.
The beginner-friendly default behavior is easiest to understand while aiming a weapon.
Supported Fortnite gyro platforms and controllers
Epic lists Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, PC and Android. Motion input must come from supported hardware; installing Fortnite on a listed platform alone does not add a gyroscope to an incompatible controller.
Xbox is not included in Epic’s official gyro-supported platform list. If Touch and Motion is absent there, do not treat a reinstall as the first fix. The platform and controller combination may simply not expose supported motion data.
Fortnite Gyro Active Modes explained
Active Mode prevents gyro from running in situations where you do not want it. Combat and Building have separate choices, so a player can use motion for weapon aim while keeping building and editing on familiar controls.
Keep motion out of both systems while learning combat aim.
Experiment with precise tile selection without changing normal building.
Use only after a Gyro Modifier or other recenter method feels automatic.
How to tune Fortnite gyro sensitivity
Epic explains that a main sensitivity of 1.0 moves the camera by the same amount as the controller. Acceleration increases sensitivity when the controller turns faster, while zoom scaling slows camera motion during zoom for steadier precision.
Controls the base relationship between controller rotation and camera movement. Tune this before advanced ratios.
Start near predictableChanges vertical movement relative to horizontal movement. Leave neutral until horizontal aim feels consistent.
Avoid early over-tuningAdds speed during fast controller turns. Disabling it produces more directly proportional motion.
Speed versus consistencyReduces motion sensitivity while zoomed. Advanced Gyro Options can disable the scaling.
Precision under magnificationMove left and right slowly without firing. Lower sensitivity if small hand motion produces large jumps.
A setting that feels perfect on a distant target may be too slow in a close fight.
Adjust the main sensitivity in small increments and repeat the same drill.
Only introduce speed scaling after the proportional response is understood.
What Flick Stick does in Fortnite
Flick Stick changes the right stick from a normal camera stick into a directional turn control. Pressing the stick toward a direction rapidly faces the camera that way. The right stick no longer provides normal up-and-down aim, so gyro must handle the vertical component.
The stick communicates direction rather than slowly steering the camera.
Move around the stick rim to rotate after the initial flick.
Gyro supplies the precision axis that Flick Stick removes from normal stick input.
Epic generally recommends Flick Stick for experienced gyro users. New players should first learn motion aiming with the familiar right-stick camera. When testing Flick Stick, Epic suggests Look Stick Effect: Enables so gyro can engage while the right stick is used, even when the chosen Active Mode would not otherwise keep gyro active.
Beginner and advanced Fortnite gyro setups
A good profile has a purpose. The beginner setup preserves familiar stick movement and adds motion only when aiming. The advanced setup increases activation and turn speed but requires a deliberate recenter control.
Why Fortnite Gyro Aiming may not appear or work
A missing Touch and Motion tab usually points to platform or input support. A visible option with no useful response points more often to the connected controller, activation mode or a sensitivity value.
Compare it with Epic’s supported list: Switch, PS4, PS5, PC and Android.
On PlayStation and PC, Epic names DualShock 4 and DualSense. On Switch, use Joy-Con or Pro Controller.
Make sure Gyro Aiming itself is on, not only an advanced sub-option.
Scope Only will not respond during ordinary hip-fire camera movement.
Epic says gyro is unavailable through GeForce NOW on PC and mobile.
Return extreme sensitivity or advanced-axis changes to a predictable baseline before broader troubleshooting.
A 20-minute Fortnite gyro practice plan
Use a low-pressure Creative environment or private practice space. Keep the same controller position and repeat the same motions so the brain can separate right-stick turns from gyro corrections.
Aim at a fixed mark, release, recenter and repeat. Learn how activation starts and stops.
Predictable motionUse the right stick for broad placement and gyro only for the final correction.
Separate coarse and fineTest whether the base sensitivity is fast enough without increasing acceleration immediately.
Pressure test the rangePractice the weapon types you actually carry and record only one setting change for the next session.

Fortnite Gyro Aiming and Flick Stick FAQ
How do you turn on Gyro Aiming in Fortnite?
Launch Fortnite, open Settings, select the Touch and Motion tab, find Gyro Options and turn Gyro Aiming on. Start with the remaining options near their defaults until controller movement feels predictable.
Which platforms support Fortnite Gyro Aiming?
Epic lists Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, PC and Android as gyro-supported Fortnite platforms. The controller or device used must also provide compatible motion input.
Does Fortnite Gyro Aiming work on Xbox?
Epic’s official supported-platform list names Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and 5, PC and Android, but does not list Xbox. If the Touch and Motion tab is absent, the current platform and input method may not support Fortnite gyro controls.
Does Gyro Aiming disable aim assist in Fortnite?
Yes. Epic states that turning on Gyro Aiming disables aim assist whenever gyro is active. The exact moments affected therefore depend on the selected Combat and Building Active Modes.
Do you need Gyro Aiming for Fortnite Flick Stick?
Yes. Flick Stick turns the camera toward the direction pressed on the right stick and removes normal vertical stick aiming, so Epic says Gyro Aiming must be enabled for vertical adjustments.
What are good Fortnite gyro settings for beginners?
Epic recommends enabling gyro, leaving most settings at their defaults, changing sensitivity only if necessary and keeping Flick Stick off at first. This makes gyro an aiming aid while the right stick remains familiar.
Can you use Fortnite Gyro Aiming through GeForce NOW?
No. Epic’s official gyro guide says Gyro Aiming is unavailable when Fortnite is played through GeForce NOW on PC or mobile.
Which Fortnite modes support gyro controls?
Epic lists Battle Royale, Creative and Save the World as supported. An individual experience can still have its own gameplay or input context, so test the controls in the mode you actually play.
