Fortnite Superman Cape: Missing or Not Working Fix 2026
Fortnite has three Superman cape cosmetics with different names, categories and Outfit rules. This guide identifies the exact item, explains the fixed missing-cape incident and stops incompatible capes from being mistaken for a Locker bug.
Why is a Fortnite Superman Cape missing or not working?
Kal-El’s Cape is a Glider locked to the 2021 Clark Kent Superman Outfit, so it cannot be equipped with the newer Superman Outfit by design. The separate 2021 Superman Cape Back Bling had a removal bug, but Epic says that issue was fixed and the item should be back in eligible Lockers.
The 2025 Super Cape Back Bling is another separate cosmetic. Identify the item type and release before reinstalling, unlinking accounts or contacting Support.
Fortnite has three different Superman cape cosmetics
Most Superman Cape reports begin with the wrong item name. Fortnite’s 2021 Clark Kent set contains both a cape-shaped Glider and a cape-shaped Back Bling. The 2025 Superman set adds another Back Bling with a shorter name. The items can look related without sharing category, ownership or compatibility.
Start in the Locker category that matches the official item type. A Glider cannot appear in the Back Bling search, and a Back Bling cannot be selected from the Glider wheel. Searching only the word Superman may also return an Outfit while hiding a cape that uses the shorter Super name.
Kal-El’s Cape only works with the 2021 Clark Kent Superman
Epic’s current support page gives a direct answer: Kal-El’s Cape was designed as an exclusive item for the Clark Kent Superman Outfit released in Chapter 2 Season 7. Because the Glider is tied to that particular version of Superman, it is not compatible with other Superman Outfits.
That includes the Chapter 6 Season 3 Superman Outfit. Owning both versions on one Epic account does not remove the item restriction. Equipping the 2025 Outfit and seeing Kal-El’s Cape unavailable is expected compatibility behavior, not proof that the Glider has been deleted.
The 2021 Chapter 2 Season 7 Outfit is the exclusive supported version.
The later Outfit cannot use the older Outfit-locked Kal-El Glider.
Local files cannot override an intentional item compatibility rule.
Why the Locker can show owned but unavailable
Ownership and usability are separate states. The Glider can remain owned by the account while its Equip button is disabled for an incompatible Outfit. Switch to Clark Kent Superman, reopen Gliders and test Kal-El’s Cape again. If it works there, the item is present and operating exactly under Epic’s restriction.
Epic says the removed Superman Cape Back Bling issue is fixed
A separate 2025 incident affected the original Superman Cape Back Bling earned during Chapter 2 Season 7. Epic acknowledged that some players had the item removed from their Lockers. The support article now says the issue was fixed and the cape should be back.
This status applies to owners who originally earned the 2021 Back Bling. It does not grant the item to accounts that never completed the original Clark Kent quest path. A restored entitlement and a new acquisition are different outcomes.
The official support wording says the cape should now be returned.
The account must have earned the Back Bling during Chapter 2 Season 7.
Check account identity, Archived status, search filters and styles before Support.
If the item still appears missing, search the Back Bling category for Superman Cape without an Outfit equipped. Clear every filter and open Archived items. Then confirm that the Epic display name matches the account used during Chapter 2 Season 7.
The wrong Superman cape incident is not the current expected state
Epic’s support library also records a resolved problem where players who acquired the Chapter 6 Season 3 Superman received an incorrect cape version. That historical incident is one reason old screenshots can show a 2021 item beside the 2025 Outfit even though the items are not normally interchangeable.
Do not use an old grant screenshot as proof that Kal-El’s Cape or the original Superman Cape should now be included with the newer Outfit. Current ownership should match the final corrected entitlements: original owners keep the 2021 rewards, and the 2025 Superman set uses its separate Super Cape reward.
How the original Superman Cape rewards unlocked in 2021
The original Clark Kent collaboration used special Chapter 2 Season 7 quests. Epic’s announcement says completing five quests from Clark Kent, Armored Batman or Beast Boy unlocked the Clark Kent Outfit. Using a Phone Booth as Clark Kent then unlocked the built-in Secret Identity Emote and the Superman Cape Back Bling.
Kal-El’s Cape followed a different route. It appeared among the additional rewards for completing a required number of Chapter 2 Season 7 Epic Quests. This explains why an account can remember one cape but not own the other. They were different reward tracks and different cosmetic categories.
Five Clark Kent, Armored Batman or Beast Boy quests unlocked Clark Kent.
The Clark Kent transformation quest granted the Superman Cape Back Bling.
Additional Season 7 progression granted the Kal-El’s Cape Glider.
The Back Bling and Glider remain separate Locker entries.
The Chapter 2 Season 7 quest window has ended. A player cannot enter a Phone Booth in 2026 and retroactively earn the Back Bling. The historical steps are useful only to confirm whether an account should already have the entitlement.
The 2025 Superman uses the separate Super Cape Back Bling
Fortnite introduced another Superman Outfit during Chapter 6 Season 3 Super. Epic’s official article says Super Battle Pass owners could unlock the Outfit by earning 12 Account Levels after the Superman goals became active. Additional Account Level goals awarded matching accessories, including the Super Cape Back Bling.
Super Cape is not a renamed copy of the old Superman Cape Back Bling. It belongs to the newer reward set, while the Outfit-locked Kal-El’s Cape remains attached to the 2021 Clark Kent version. Keeping these sets separate prevents three common errors: searching the wrong category, assuming cross-Outfit Glider support and reporting a correct 2025 reward as the wrong item.
Originally unlocked through Super Battle Pass Account Level goals.
A matching accessory with its own reward goal and Locker entitlement.
The new Outfit does not gain compatibility with the old locked Glider.
Can you get a Fortnite Superman Cape in 2026?
The expired quest paths cannot be progressed in 2026. The original Clark Kent Outfit, Superman Cape Back Bling and Kal-El’s Cape Glider came from Chapter 2 Season 7, before Epic changed future Battle Pass exclusivity. The old quests do not return simply because another DC item enters the Shop.
The newer Superman and Super Cape came from the Chapter 6 Season 3 Super Battle Pass, which ended August 7, 2025. Epic’s newer policy allows eligible Pass items to enter the Shop at least 18 months after a Pass ends, but no item or alternate style is guaranteed. That puts the earliest possible eligibility on February 7, 2027, not during 2026.
Run these checks in the correct order
Begin with exact item identity, then verify the Epic account and finally test compatibility. This order avoids destructive platform unlinking and separates expected Outfit restrictions from genuine missing entitlements.
Determine whether you need Kal-El’s Cape, Superman Cape or Super Cape.
Search Gliders for Kal-El and Back Blings for Superman Cape or Super Cape.
Remove search filters, then inspect Archived items for the selected category.
Confirm the display name and platform connection used in the original season.
Equip the 2021 Clark Kent Superman before judging Kal-El’s Cape availability.
Install the latest build and restart to refresh current Locker entitlements.
Match each symptom to one fix
Equip Clark Kent Superman from Chapter 2 Season 7. The Glider is intentionally locked to that Outfit.
CompatibilityCheck the Back Bling category, Archived items and original account. Epic says the old removal issue is fixed.
Restored grantConfirm the 2025 account actually reached the matching Super Battle Pass reward goal.
2025 entitlementVerify the Epic display name and linked platform before changing connections.
Account identityThat result is Kal-El’s Cape, not either Superman Back Bling.
Item categoryCreative islands cannot grant expired Battle Pass cosmetics or force Locker entitlements.
False unlockSend Epic an item-specific Superman Cape report
Contact Support only after you can name the expected item and prove the original entitlement. Saying “my Superman cape is gone” leaves three possible cosmetics, two categories and two Battle Pass seasons. A precise report is easier to route.
For the restored 2021 Back Bling, include a screenshot of the empty Back Bling search and evidence that the same Epic account owns Clark Kent Superman. For the 2025 Super Cape, include the reward state or ownership capture from the Super Battle Pass period. For Kal-El’s Cape, first show that it remains unavailable while Clark Kent Superman is equipped; otherwise the restriction is expected.
Fortnite Superman Cape FAQ
Why can I not use Kal-El’s Cape with the newer Superman Outfit?
Epic says the Kal-El’s Cape Glider was designed exclusively for the Clark Kent Superman Outfit from Chapter 2 Season 7. It is not compatible with other Superman Outfits, including the Chapter 6 Season 3 version.
Is Kal-El’s Cape a Glider or a Back Bling in Fortnite?
Kal-El’s Cape is a Glider. The Chapter 2 Season 7 set also contained a separate Superman Cape Back Bling, so players must check two different Locker categories.
Why is my original Superman Cape Back Bling missing?
Epic acknowledged that some players lost the Superman Cape Back Bling they earned in Chapter 2 Season 7. Epic later marked the issue fixed and said the cape should be back in affected Lockers.
Did Epic fix the removed Superman Cape problem?
Yes. Epic’s support article says the removal issue was fixed and the original cape should now be back. If an eligible account still cannot find it, verify the correct Epic account, Archived items and every style before contacting Support.
What is the Super Cape Back Bling?
Super Cape is the matching Back Bling for the Chapter 6 Season 3 Superman Outfit. It is a separate 2025 cosmetic and should not be confused with the 2021 Superman Cape Back Bling or Kal-El’s Cape Glider.
What happened if Fortnite granted the wrong Superman cape?
Epic documented a resolved wrong-cape issue around the Chapter 6 Season 3 Superman release. Check which Superman Outfit, Glider and Back Bling the account actually owns instead of treating similarly named cape items as interchangeable.
Can I get the Fortnite Superman capes in 2026?
The 2021 Clark Kent rewards cannot be earned from their expired Chapter 2 Season 7 Pass in 2026. The 2025 Super Battle Pass also ended, and its eligible items cannot reach the Shop under Epic’s 18-month rule before February 2027.
What should I send Epic Support for a missing Superman Cape?
Send the Epic display name, platform, exact item name, original unlock season and screenshots of the Outfit, Glider and Back Bling Locker searches. Never send a password, two-factor code or full payment information.
