Fortnite Reboot Vans: Bring Them Back
Recover Reboot Cards, move the new drivable van, spend Bars when the live rules allow it and finish the channel without donating another elimination.
Collect the card, secure an eligible van and hold the interaction until the squadmate returns.
In current Fortnite, the van may be drivable and the live prompt may let you recover a card with Bars. Treat the HUD timer, cost and recharge state as the current truth. A knocked teammate in DBNO can also use the rear revive function of a drivable van, which is different from rebooting a fully eliminated player.
How Fortnite Reboot Cards and vans work
When an eligible teammate is fully eliminated, Fortnite can leave a Reboot Card. A surviving squadmate collects that card and takes the squad’s reboot opportunity to an eligible Reboot Van. Completing the interaction returns the eliminated teammate to the match.
This is not the same as reviving a knocked player. A knocked player is still in the Down But Not Out state and can normally be revived before elimination. The card-and-van sequence begins after full elimination, subject to the current mode’s rules.
How to reboot a teammate step by step
The button prompt is simple; the decision order wins the fight. First preserve the surviving players, then recover the card, then choose a van with enough time and cover.
Mark the card and decide whether the route is survivable before sprinting back into the elimination site.
Heal, reload and identify enemy positions. A card is useless if every survivor is eliminated beside it.
Pick it up normally, or check whether the active rules offer a Bar purchase at a compatible van.
Consider storm timing, sightlines, nearby cover, mobility and whether the van is ready or recharging.
The closest protected player interacts while the second survivor watches the most dangerous approach.
Expect attention after activation. Leave spare weapons, ammo and healing where the returned player can reach them.
How drivable Reboot Vans change the play
Fortnite Chapter 7 introduced drivable Reboot Vans to Battle Royale. Instead of accepting the van’s original position, a squad can move the recovery point. Epic describes the vehicle as a mobile revive station, and its siren makes relocation a tactical choice rather than a free invisible escape.
Drive toward hard cover or a cleaner edge route before beginning the reboot interaction.
A mobile recovery point can reduce the distance between a safe hold and the reboot.
Driving and rebooting can advertise the squad’s plan. Rotate with a destination already chosen.
Check fuel or vehicle state, the storm route and whether the intended destination has cover.
Plan the stopAvoid a straight predictable route through the center of an active fight.
Break sightlinesPark so the vehicle and terrain block the strongest enemy angle without trapping the squad.
Create coverMove immediately if the van location is compromised and provide the returned player with loot.
Exit togetherCan you buy a Reboot Card with Bars?
Current Fortnite systems can let squads spend Bars to reboot teammates. Epic’s Chapter 7 notes explicitly tell players to spend Bars on teammate reboots, and Epic’s v34.30 ecosystem notes document Reboot Card purchasing as a Battle Royale feature exposed to creators.
Do not hard-code one universal price or promise the option in every playlist. The exact purchase prompt, eligible card state, resource cost and active van behavior are controlled by the live rules. Read the interaction prompt at the van.
DBNO revive versus a full reboot
A squadmate in Down But Not Out has not been fully eliminated. Chapter 7 added a special interaction for the drivable van: the knocked player can crawl, or be thrown, into the back of the vehicle to be revived. A fully eliminated player instead needs the Reboot Card workflow.
Reboot progress decay and van recharge
Since the v28.00 gameplay change, stopping the Reboot Van interaction no longer means an immediate total loss of progress in Battle Royale. The meter decays gradually, and another teammate can resume while useful progress remains. That creates room to release the interaction, defend and continue.
A van can also have a recharge period after a successful use. Exact timing depends on the active Battle Royale rules or creator settings, so the visible van state is more reliable than a timer remembered from an older season.
Release when the pusher can eliminate you. Preserved progress is valuable only if a survivor remains.
A second player can use remaining progress after the first player breaks away.
Do not stand exposed beside a temporarily unavailable van with no fallback.
Safer Fortnite reboot tactics
Most failed reboots are decision failures rather than button failures. Use a simple priority system: survival, information, cover, channel, exit. The returned player is usually vulnerable until the squad supplies weapons and healing.
Keep a primary option and a fallback if enemies, storm or recharge block the first.
Avoid tunnel visionSave one usable weapon, ammo stack and heal for the teammate returning with limited equipment.
Rebuild fighting powerOne player channels while another holds the closest entrance, ridge or vehicle line.
Split responsibilitiesExpect nearby players to react. Move together instead of looting the same exposed spot.
Leave the signalWhy a Fortnite Reboot Van may not work
A van can look usable while the card, mode or current van state blocks the interaction. Isolate the rule before assuming the button is broken.
Normal team Battle Royale rules differ from Solo, limited-time modes and creator-made islands.
Verify the squad collected the card or that the current van explicitly offers a supported Bar purchase.
An expired card may require a supported purchase route; it cannot always be recovered normally.
A recently used van may be recharging, disabled or unavailable under the current mode rules.
Do not tap and move away. Remain in range until completion unless danger forces an interruption.
Creators can restrict activation by team or class and can change progress, recharge and purchase behavior.

The article separates permanent concepts from live variables. Epic documentation supports the card-to-van loop, while official release notes support drivable vans, DBNO rear revives, Bar usage and progress decay. Costs, locations and timers remain update-sensitive.
Fortnite Reboot Van FAQ
How do you reboot a teammate in Fortnite?
Collect the eliminated teammate’s Reboot Card, reach an eligible Reboot Van and hold the displayed interaction until the reboot completes. Protect the van because the interaction is visible, noisy and vulnerable to interruption.
What happens if a Fortnite Reboot Card expires?
A card can no longer be collected normally after its live HUD timer expires. In supported Battle Royale rules, a Reboot Van may offer a Bar-based card purchase, but availability and cost should be confirmed from the current in-game prompt.
Can more than one Fortnite teammate use the same Reboot Card?
A collected card belongs to the squad’s reboot opportunity rather than one player’s inventory plan. One surviving teammate can take it to an eligible van, while the rest of the squad protects or helps manage the reboot.
Can you drive a Reboot Van in Fortnite?
Yes, Chapter 7 introduced drivable Reboot Vans in Battle Royale. They can relocate the reboot point, and official documentation describes them as mobile revive stations that operate like other vehicles.
Can a Reboot Van revive a knocked teammate?
The Chapter 7 drivable van can revive a Down But Not Out teammate through its rear revive area. That is different from using a Reboot Card to return a fully eliminated teammate.
Does Reboot Van progress reset when interrupted?
Fortnite changed Battle Royale reboot interactions so progress does not instantly disappear when interrupted. It decays over time, and a teammate can resume the interaction while some progress remains.
Why is a Fortnite Reboot Van not working?
Check that the mode supports reboots, the squad has an eligible card or purchase prompt, the van is available rather than recharging, and the interaction is being held to completion. Creative islands can also use custom team, class and reboot settings.
Can you use Reboot Vans in Solo Fortnite?
Normal Solo play has no teammate to drop a usable Reboot Card for you. Reboot mechanics are designed for team contexts, while special modes or creator-made islands can apply different rules.
