R6 Marketplace & Economy Changes 2026: Season 3 Explained
Ubisoft is changing how event packs, Renown, Masterpieces and Marketplace access fit together. Here is what actually matters before Season 3 lands.

The most important current fact is that Ubisoft’s Marketplace remains closed while its security and economy foundations are rebuilt. Separately, Ubisoft says new event packs will move to R6 Credits only starting in Season 3. M.U.T.E. Protocol: Flesh & Metal and Rengoku are described as the final events where new collection packs can be bought with Renown, while older collections can return with dual-currency options. Masterpieces are also becoming easier to access through direct R6 Credit purchase.
Marketplace remains closed
Ubisoft’s June 30 update says the Marketplace remains closed while security monitoring, account protection and the wider economy foundations are rebuilt. That update does not provide a reopening date.
What changed in the R6 economy
The biggest shift is simple: event collection spending is becoming more controlled. New event packs are moving toward R6 Credits, while Renown is being repositioned around older collections and other account progression choices.
That matters because many players used Renown as the safer way to chase event cosmetics without paying. After this change, anyone chasing the newest event collection should expect R6 Credits to matter more than before.
New event packs are moving to R6 Credits
Ubisoft's update says that starting in Season 3, new event packs will transition to R6 Credits only. That does not mean Renown has no use, but it changes how players should think about future limited collections.
If you care about event cosmetics, timing becomes more important. Packs from the current window are different from older collections that may return later with dual-currency options.
Why Renown still matters
Renown is not dead. It still matters for account progression and for older collections when they return with dual-currency options. The mistake is treating Renown as if it will cover every new cosmetic drop going forward.
A healthy account should still have practical value: unlocked operators, useful cosmetics, account access quality and a clean security setup. Renown balance can help, but it is not the whole account.
Masterpiece skins become more direct
The update also says Masterpieces will become directly purchasable with R6 Credits starting in Season 3, and that the purchase will include event packs. That is a big change because Masterpieces previously felt locked behind full collection completion for many players.
This is good for players who want one premium event item without chasing an entire collection. It also makes it easier to understand what a high-end event cosmetic actually cost.
How this affects Marketplace prices
Because the Marketplace remains closed, there is no current live order book to use as a pricing signal. If Ubisoft reopens it later, supply, demand, tradability and the new direct-purchase options will matter.
Direct purchase does not automatically make every cosmetic cheap, and old rarity or demand can still differ. Wait for an official reopening and clear tradability rules before treating a listing or account claim as a real market price.
What to check before judging an R6 account
Do not value an account only by one screenshot of a rare skin. Check platform, region, level, linked Ubisoft account quality, current Marketplace status or historical eligibility context, 2-Step Verification status and whether the inventory can be shown clearly.
While the Marketplace is closed, do not pay extra for promises of active trading access. Treat owned, verifiable cosmetics as evidence and future Marketplace access as uncertain.
A clean account with useful operators, ranked-ready access and proven cosmetics is easier to trust than an account sold only on hype around one event item.
What players should do before Season 3
If you already own the cosmetics you care about, the safest move is to document the inventory and avoid panic spending. The economy change does not make every older item priceless overnight, and it does not make every current item disappear from value conversations.
If you are buying or comparing an account, ask for a current inventory view, current Marketplace status and clear account access details. A seller who understands the new economy should be able to explain what is owned now, what is only planned, and what still depends on future shop availability or a Marketplace reopening.
