What Fortnite Festival Pro Drums actually is
Pro Drums is a Fortnite Festival Main Stage part designed for physical drum hardware. Instead of converting every rhythm into controller buttons, it lets a supported Rock Band 4 drum peripheral or electronic MIDI kit drive the drum highway. Fortnite introduced the feature with Festival Season 14 on April 16, 2026.
The hardware layer is the important part. An electronic pad produces a MIDI note, Fortnite maps that note to a Pro Drums lane, and the chart evaluates the hit against the song timing. Cymbals and kick pedals can be represented separately when the device and in-game configuration support them.
Pro Drums, standard Drums and cosmetic Drum Instruments are separate
Fortnite uses the word “Drums” for gameplay parts and Locker cosmetics. They do not solve the same problem.
Uses a supported Rock Band 4 peripheral or electronic MIDI kit to play the authored Pro Drums chart.

Which drum kits work with Fortnite Pro Drums?
Epic says Pro Drums was designed for existing wireless Rock Band 4 drum peripherals and correctly configured MIDI kits. The table below mirrors the combinations Epic lists as tested. “Unsupported” is a platform boundary, not a missing setting.
Epic’s support table explicitly lists Switch, Switch 2, Android and iOS as unsupported for these tested devices. It also lists Xbox One and Xbox Series consoles as unsupported for the Xbox One Rock Band 4 drum peripheral, even though that name can make the opposite seem intuitive.
Connect an electronic MIDI drum kit to Fortnite
Epic currently supports electronic drum kits natively for Pro Drums on Windows when the kit can output MIDI. The physical connection can be a direct USB-B-to-USB-A cable or a USB-to-5-pin MIDI interface, depending on the module.
Look for USB MIDI, USB-B or 5-pin MIDI OUT. A USB port used only for storage may not expose note data.
Use USB-B to USB-A or route the module’s 5-pin MIDI OUT through a compatible USB MIDI cable.
Select the Main Menu at the top right, open Settings and navigate to the MIDI Controller tab.
Choose the drum module or interface that carries the kit’s note messages.
Epic says the device should be found automatically, but Rescan Devices triggers another MIDI scan.
Use Rock Band 4 drums only on the supported platform path
Rock Band 4 drums do not share one universal wireless standard. Epic separates the Xbox One and PS4 versions in its tested list, so the logo and original console matter.
Epic lists this combination as supported on Windows. The same peripheral is listed as unsupported on Xbox consoles and every other tested platform.
Epic lists the PS4 model with kick pedal and cymbals as native on PS4/PS5, but unsupported on Windows and Xbox.
Verify the label, original platform, battery state and required wireless adapter before troubleshooting in-game menus.
If a used listing omits the receiver or identifies the kit only as “wireless drums,” ask for the model label and included accessories. A missing Xbox controller dongle changes the Windows result, while a PS4 kit belongs on the PlayStation path in Epic’s current matrix.
Map pads, kick and cymbals in the MIDI Controller tab
For an electronic kit, Epic places drum bindings under Settings > MIDI Controller > Festival (Pro Drums). Strike one physical surface at a time and verify that its MIDI note maps to the intended gameplay action.
The exact MIDI note emitted by a pad depends on the drum module. If two surfaces trigger the same Fortnite action, correct the module note assignment or the in-game Pro Drums binding rather than increasing sensitivity.
Enable cymbals as gameplay parts
Epic adds a second requirement for cymbals: after mapping them, enable cymbals in the Festival section of the Game tab. This allows cymbal-authored gameplay. When cymbals are active, the part picker and gameplay label show Pro Drums + Cymbals, with a separate leaderboard.
Enable Double Kick for supported Jam Tracks
Fortnite Festival v41.00 added Double Kick support to selected existing Jam Tracks for Pro Drums. Turn on the in-game setting named Pro Drums: Enable Double Kick to use the expanded kick chart.
The feature is song-dependent. Epic’s current support list covers older tracks updated for Double Kick, while future Jam Tracks may include support automatically. A second pedal or dual-pedal signal does not create extra authored notes in a song that has no Double Kick chart.
Activate the dedicated Pro Drums setting before testing a supported song.
Use Epic’s maintained list; the setting does not rewrite unsupported drum charts.

Calibrate after every device in the chain is stable
Fortnite Festival’s general tune-up adjusts audio, video and input timing. Run it after the drum kit is detected, pads are mapped and the final audio route is selected. Changing a television mode, Bluetooth audio route or USB interface afterward can change the timing relationship.
Test pads, kick and enabled cymbals in the MIDI bindings before judging chart timing.
Use the same TV game mode, headphones or speakers intended for normal play.
Open tune-up from Game Settings while Fortnite Festival is the selected experience.
Repeat the same song section before making a second timing adjustment.
Fortnite Pro Drums not working: fix by symptom
Work from hardware toward the chart. That makes each test conclusive and avoids remapping an unsupported device repeatedly.
Confirm MIDI output, power the module before Fortnite, reconnect USB, open Settings > MIDI Controller and select Rescan Devices.
