Quick answer

Open the menu, choose Report, select the player and reason, then press Accept to submit.

During a match, open the menu, choose the hamburger menu, select Report and then Submit a report. Choose A player or sidekick, select the player, select the closest reason and press Accept. For text or voice chat, use the conversation-specific report path so the report relates to the actual interaction.

In-game player report

Use the match menu when the player is in the current game.

The in-game flow is the direct route for behavior you observed in the match. It works from Fortnite's menu, with platform-specific buttons opening that menu while you are already playing.

Open the menu

In a match, open the menu icon. Epic lists Esc on PC/Mac, Options on PlayStation, Menu on Xbox and + on Switch as the match shortcuts.

Open the hamburger menu

Choose the three-line hamburger menu inside the Fortnite menu to reveal the report route.

Select Report

Choose Report, then select Submit a report to enter Fortnite's player-report flow.

Choose player or sidekick

Select A player or sidekick. This keeps the report tied to the person or sidekick you mean to identify.

Select name and reason

Choose the player name and the closest truthful reason from the available categories. Do not choose a more serious label just to add weight.

Press Accept

Select Accept to send the report. A report gives Epic information to review; it does not promise an instant visible outcome.

Keep the report narrow: identify the correct player and the behavior you actually observed. A clear, truthful in-game report is more useful than arguing in chat or asking other players to submit a different claim.
After the match

Use a recent player's profile if the moment has already ended.

You do not need to stay in the same match to use the player-report system. Epic says you can report from the in-game profile pages of players you recently played with, or from the voice-channel player list.

Find the player profile

Open the profile page of a player you recently played with, or open the player from the voice-channel list when that is where the interaction occurred.

Choose More options

On the player's profile page, select More options. This opens actions specific to that player rather than the general lobby menu.

Select Report and reason

Choose Report, then select the reason that matches the behavior you are reporting.

Confirm with Accept

Select Accept to send the report. Use this route for a recent player rather than trying to recreate a missing in-match menu.

Block and report are separate choices. Blocking or muting can help control your immediate experience, while the report path sends the behavior concern for review. Use the choice that matches what you need in the moment.
Text chat

Report the conversation or the exact message from the chat controls.

If text chat and text reporting are enabled, Fortnite can submit the conversation content for review. Use the chat-specific report option instead of describing a text interaction through an unrelated player-report category.

Sidebar routeProfile → Chats

Open the profile icon, choose the Chats tab, select the conversation, open the three-dot menu, choose Report chat and press Submit.

Direct window routeReport below chat

Open the chat window and select the Report button below it. Press Submit once the report screen loads.

Specific messageUse the message dots

Epic says an individual message can be reported from the three dots next to that message when the option is available.

Use the conversation that contains the behavior. Reporting the right thread gives the report the relevant context. Do not continue an unwanted exchange just to create more messages.
Voice chat

Voice Reporting is time-limited and must already be on for audio evidence.

Epic's Voice Reporting system captures the last five minutes of voice chat on a rolling basis when Voice Reporting is on. The audio stays on the device unless a participant submits a report; only the recent five-minute window is attached to that report.

Five-minute rolling window

When Voice Reporting is on, the latest five minutes are captured on a rolling basis. Older audio is deleted as new audio is recorded.

Stored on the device

Epic says the captured audio stays on the console or PC rather than its servers until a report is submitted.

Report the conversation

Open the profile icon, use the three dots under Social and choose Report chat. The report path can attach the eligible recent audio.

Audio needs prior opt-in

You can still block, mute and report when Voice Reporting was off, but audio evidence requires Voice Reporting to have been on before the conversation.

Protect your immediate session too: if the interaction is ongoing, use the player controls available to mute, block or leave the conversation while you choose the appropriate report path. The report does not require you to remain exposed to further behavior.
Reason selection

Select the closest accurate reason, not the most dramatic one.

The report menu asks for a reason after you select the player. Match the report category to the behavior you saw or heard. This keeps the report useful for review and protects the process from false or exaggerated claims.

Use the available category

Select the nearest in-game reason for the actual behavior. Do not invent details or ask other players to coordinate unrelated reports.

Keep chat reports in chat

For text or voice interactions, use Report chat where the relevant conversation is available, rather than repeating it through a vague general route.

Use illegal-content reporting carefully

Epic's report flow identifies Illegal Content for content involving or promoting illegal activities and serious harmful behavior. Choose it only when that description fits what you are reporting.

Do not expect a public result

Your submission may help Epic decide whether action is warranted under its Terms of Service and Code of Conduct; it does not create a promised automatic penalty.

After submit

End the interaction, preserve your space and avoid retaliation.

Once the report is submitted, the useful next step is usually to return to your own match or use the immediate player controls you need. Do not turn the report into an argument, public accusation or a request for others to submit false reports.

What you controlThe correct report path

Choose the player, reason and report surface that matches the observed behavior: in-game, text conversation or voice conversation.

What Epic reviewsWhether action is warranted

Epic states that a report may help it determine whether action is warranted under its Terms of Service and Code of Conduct.

What not to doDo not retaliate

Mute, block or leave if needed. A report should reduce the interaction, not extend it into harassment or threats of your own.

For immediate danger or a credible real-world threat: prioritize local emergency or law-enforcement help appropriate to your location. In-game reporting is not an emergency-response service.
Keep the intent clean

Reporting behavior is different from fixing a chat or account setting.

This guide stays with the official report paths. Voice settings, party joinability, parental permission and account security need separate answers so users do not mistake one control for another.
