VALORANT Privacy Settings 2026 Hide Your Name & Profile
Build the right privacy setup for Ranked, streaming and everyday play. This guide shows what each switch actually hides, what stays visible and how to audit trackers without mistaking privacy for account security.
Turn on the three General privacy controls, then audit Account Level and tracker visibility separately.
For the strongest practical setup, enable Hide My Name from Players Outside My Party, Use Generic Names for Players Outside My Party and Auto-Reject Friend Requests. Then uncheck Account Level display under Collection → Player Cards → Level Borders. These controls reduce exposure; they do not hide your identity from Riot, party members, friends, reports, match systems or every third-party profile.
The best VALORANT privacy setup for most players
The useful privacy controls are split across several surfaces. Start with the three in-match settings, then make one Player Card change and one account-connection review. That gives you meaningful protection without disabling team communication or social play with people you already trust.
Non-party players see your Agent name during the protected match window.
Replace non-party player IDs on your screen to reduce stream exposure.
Automatically stop new friend requests from reaching your inbox.
A separate checkbox controls level display to non-friends in matches.
What every VALORANT privacy setting actually does
The labels sound broader than their real scope. Use this table before deciding that one toggle makes the whole account private.
| Control | Recommended | What it changes | Important limit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hide My Name from Players Outside My Party | ON | Shows your Agent name to non-party players from Agent Select through game end. | Party members are excluded; your Riot account is not renamed. |
| Use Generic Names for Players Outside My Party | ON | Shows Agent names instead of non-party Riot IDs on your own client. | This protects what appears on your screen; it does not force privacy settings on other players. |
| Auto-Reject Friend Requests | ON | Automatically rejects incoming friend requests. | Does not remove existing friends, mute chat or block all party invitations. |
| Show Account Level on Player Card | OFF | Uncheck it in the Level Borders tab to obscure your Account Level from non-friends in matches. | Does not hide rank, MMR, skins or time played from Riot. |
| Hide custom-game Match History result | AS NEEDED | Keeps a custom practice result out of Match History when the lobby privacy option is used. | Not a delete switch for Competitive, Unrated or other normal match history. |
| Tracker or stat-site profile | PER SERVICE | Visibility is managed through the approved service, its RSO connection and its privacy/deletion tools. | The VALORANT in-game toggles do not automatically change a tracker profile. |
What Hide My Name covers—and what it does not
Riot introduced the identity controls as Incognito Mode in Patch 1.07. The documented scope is precise: the features take effect from Agent Select to game end. Non-party players see your selected Agent name instead of your Riot ID. The companion generic-name control changes what you see for players outside your party.
Your Riot ID in the active lobby
Non-party players see the Agent label during the protected match window. This also reduces the chance that your own stream broadcasts random teammate or opponent names.
Post-match friend-request pressure
Auto-Reject prevents new requests from piling up when viewers or match participants try to add you.
Your identity inside your party
The setting explicitly excludes party members. Do not invite unknown viewers if revealing your Riot ID to the party is a concern.
Riot systems and moderation
Match records, reports, enforcement and account data still work. Incognito Mode changes presentation to players, not Riot’s internal record.
How to hide your VALORANT Account Level
Account Level is not controlled by Incognito Mode. Riot added a dedicated option in Patch 3.08 after players reported that level-to-rank comparisons could fuel toxicity. The setting sits with the border itself, not beside the name controls.
Open Collection
From the main client, enter Collection and choose Player Cards.
Select Level Borders
Open the Level Borders tab where unlocked borders and the display option live.
Uncheck level display
Disable the checkbox that shows your Account Level on your Player Card.
Riot’s documented scope is matches with players who are not your friends. Hiding the border is useful against level-based comments, but it is not rank privacy. Your Competitive rank, hidden MMR, RR and Account Level are different systems.
Hide practice results without claiming a global history wipe
Patch 2.01 added the ability to hide custom game results from Match History, primarily so teams could practice without exposing strategies through custom results. The host should inspect the custom-lobby options and confirm the privacy choice before the match begins.
Use the custom-game history option before launch when the result itself would reveal practice information.
USE PRIVACY OPTIONThe custom-game control does not remove normal queue results from Career or Riot’s records.
NOT COVEREDMatch-history privacy cannot remove information already captured, uploaded or shared by participants.
MANAGE SEPARATELYHow VALORANT tracker privacy really works
Your in-game privacy switches do not automatically turn a third-party profile private. Riot’s developer rules require approved VALORANT apps to use player opt-in before displaying player-specific stats. The normal authorization route is Riot Sign On (RSO), and apps must warn that linking can make the relevant player data public inside their ecosystem.
An approved stat service verifies your Riot account through RSO before it displays player-specific data.
Private-profile, unclaim, hide or deletion controls belong to that service and can differ by provider.
Disconnect apps you no longer use, then request deletion separately if you also want stored service data removed.
A clean tracker privacy audit
- Open the tracker’s own account or privacy page and switch the profile to private if that option exists.
- Review connected accounts and revoke old services you no longer recognize or use.
- Use the service’s deletion or support process if you want previously stored data removed; revocation alone may only stop future access.
- Never enter Riot credentials into a lookalike form. A legitimate RSO flow should send authentication through Riot.
Riot’s policy has two narrow exceptions worth understanding: aggregate statistics with no specific player and official ladder leaderboards do not require the same individual opt-in. A private tracker profile therefore cannot make the entire competitive ecosystem forget every aggregated or official leaderboard record.
A privacy checklist before going live
Streamer Mode is not one magical switch. Use the in-game controls as the first layer, then remove identity leaks from the desktop, browser, chat and social surfaces that viewers can also see.
Hide your Riot ID from non-party players and render non-party IDs as Agent names on your own feed.
Prevent the request list from becoming a live viewer notification surface.
Remove another easy account fingerprint from the match presentation.
Capture only the game where possible; exclude email, Riot account management, order pages and private Discord channels.
Your party can still see your identity. Invite only people you trust not to repeat it on stream.
A short stream delay can reduce real-time sniping, but it does not make names or match data private.
What VALORANT privacy settings cannot hide
Riot’s current Privacy Notice distinguishes display choices from the information needed to operate, secure and moderate the service. Name masking changes what other players see in a defined window; it does not stop the game from storing or processing information required for matches, account management, safety and enforcement.
The name privacy rule is specifically built around players outside your party. Account Level hiding also has a non-friend scope.
PARTLY VISIBLEIncognito Mode is not a ranking control. Hidden MMR remains part of matchmaking, and other rank surfaces have their own rules.
NOT AFFECTEDName masking does not mute communications or anonymize information you speak or type. Reports and moderation remain available.
NOT AFFECTEDRiot processes identifiers, gameplay, communications, purchase and device-related information for documented service purposes.
RIOT-SIDE DATAEach RSO authorization and service profile must be reviewed separately from the in-game settings.
SEPARATE CONTROLA privacy change cannot retract old clips, screenshots, stat pages, chat logs or posts that another person saved.
NO RETROACTIVE WIPEIf you need a copy of Riot-held account data or want to exercise an eligible privacy right, use the VALORANT account data request guide. That process is legally and technically different from choosing what appears to players in a match.
A hidden name does not secure the account
Privacy reduces unnecessary exposure. Security prevents unauthorized access. You need both, but they use different controls. A player can hide every visible label and still lose access through a reused password, phishing page, compromised email or shared recovery code.
Control what other players see
Name masking, generic names, friend-request filtering, level display and tracker profiles reduce discoverability and unwanted attention.
Control who can sign in
A unique password, secure email, Riot Mobile MFA, device review and recovery readiness protect account access.
Follow the dedicated VALORANT account security checklist and Riot Mobile MFA guide. If access has already been lost, switch to the hacked-account recovery guide instead of changing cosmetic privacy switches.
Review every privacy surface in the right order
Enable Hide My Name, Generic Names and Auto-Reject Friend Requests.
Open Level Borders and uncheck Account Level display if you do not want non-friends seeing it.
Remove unknown contacts and remember that party members remain outside the Incognito Mode protection.
Make profiles private where available, revoke unused RSO connections and request deletion separately when needed.
Search your Riot ID and tagline, then remove public cross-links that reveal email, real name or location.
Use unique credentials, secure the email account and enable the supported MFA method.

The review separates original feature documentation from the 2026 interface update and current platform policy. UI wording can change faster than the underlying privacy scope, so feature limits are tied to Riot’s own descriptions.

VALORANT Privacy Settings FAQ
What are the best VALORANT privacy settings in 2026?
For the strongest practical in-match setup, enable Hide My Name from Players Outside My Party, enable generic names for players outside your party and enable Auto-Reject Friend Requests. Separately hide your Account Level in the Player Card Level Borders tab and review every tracker or connected app you have authorized.
How do I hide my name in VALORANT?
Open Settings, go to the General privacy controls and enable Hide My Name from Players Outside My Party. Riot’s Incognito Mode documentation says non-party players see your Agent name from Agent Select through game end instead of your Riot ID.
What do other players see when I hide my VALORANT name?
Players outside your party see the name of the Agent you selected during the protected match window. Party members are excluded from the setting. This does not rename your Riot account or erase match and moderation records held by Riot.
Does VALORANT streamer mode hide my rank?
No. The name privacy controls replace names during the match window; they do not hide MMR from Riot or create a completely private profile. Account Level has its own separate visibility control, while tracker visibility is managed through the third-party service and Riot Sign On authorization.
How do I hide my Account Level in VALORANT?
Open Collection, choose Player Cards and open the Level Borders tab. Uncheck the option that shows your Account Level on your Player Card. Riot says this hides the level in matches from players who are not your friends.
What does Auto-Reject Friend Requests do in VALORANT?
It blocks incoming friend requests automatically instead of letting them build up after matches or streams. It does not block party invites from existing friends, mute communications or remove people who are already on your friends list.
Can I make my VALORANT Tracker profile private?
Approved VALORANT stat apps must require player opt-in through Riot Sign On before displaying player-specific stats. To reduce exposure, use the service’s private-profile or deletion option if available and revoke the connection when you no longer use it. Disconnecting and deleting stored data are separate actions.
Can I hide custom game results from VALORANT Match History?
Yes. Riot added an option to hide custom game results from Match History. The custom-game host should verify the privacy option before the lobby starts; it is not a global switch that deletes Competitive or Unrated history.
Do VALORANT privacy settings hide voice and text chat?
No. Name masking does not mute voice or text, anonymize what you say or prevent reports. Riot’s Privacy Notice says voice and text communications can be processed for game features, safety and enforcement, so avoid sharing personal information in chat.
Does VALORANT have one switch to make my entire profile private?
No single in-client switch covers every surface. In-match name privacy, Account Level visibility, custom-game history, friend requests, Riot account connections and each tracker profile are separate controls with different scopes.
