Clash of Clans Hero Levels by Town Hall: What Counts as Maxed in 2026

A Town Hall number says what a village can build. Clash of Clans hero levels say how much time was actually spent on it. Use the table below to turn “Town Hall 16” into a percentage of the cap, and a hero total into a verdict.

Looking for a Clash of Clans account?

Compare Town Hall, total hero levels and Builder Hall on every listing. Use the table below to see how far along each village really is.

1. Maximum hero levels by Town Hall

Supercell publishes the new levels in its patch notes, but not one table per Town Hall. The table below starts at Town Hall 9, where the Minion Prince joins the first two heroes, and was assembled from the Hero Hall data of several community sites (clash.ninja, the Clash of Clans wiki and Clash Guides with Dusk), which agree with each other, and compared with the level changes Supercell lists in its patch notes since October 2025. It is current as of 12 October 2026.

Dragon Duke, the sixth hero, was freed during a community event announced in the February 2026 update and is available from Town Hall 15. The Town Hall 18 caps of the Barbarian King, Archer Queen and Grand Warden gained five new levels each in the 15 June 2026 update. The 17 November 2025 release added levels for Town Hall 18 as well, but Supercell's post does not list them, so those caps come from community data. Several fan trackers still add up only five heroes, which gives 355, 385, 415 and 455 for Town Halls 15 to 18. Always check which total a number refers to.

The Hero Hall gates hero levels. Its maximum level rises with the Town Hall, so the table works as a quick reference. A Hero Hall below that maximum means the heroes are behind, so ask for both.

2. From a hero total to a verdict

Take the total from the profile, divide it by the Total column for the account's Town Hall, and read the percentage. These bands are ALVIRAN editorial rules of thumb, not Supercell categories.

How to read the share of the hero cap
Share of cap Reading Example at Town Hall 16 (cap 400)
90% or more Maxed or nearly maxed for its Town Hall. 360 or more
70 to 89% Strong. A few heroes are probably a step behind. 280 to 359
50 to 69% Mid-way. Ask which heroes are behind and by how much. 200 to 279
Below 50% Rushed. The Town Hall is well ahead of the heroes. Under 200

Heroes are the slowest part to catch up on. Upgrade timers for the top levels run to roughly a week or more per level for the Barbarian King and Archer Queen, according to community data. A village can reach a high Town Hall long before its heroes catch up.

3. Three villages at the same Town Hall

Take three hypothetical Town Hall 16 villages. The cap for Town Hall 16 is 400 hero levels. They look identical in a filter on Town Hall, and they are completely different accounts.

Village A: 150 hero levels38% of the cap, rushed
Village B: 280 hero levels70% of the cap, strong
Village C: 380 hero levels95% of the cap, maxed
Cap at Town Hall 16400 hero levels

Village A has the buildings of a Town Hall 16 and the heroes of a Town Hall 12. Village C is close to what the game allows. If both are priced as “Town Hall 16”, the price is hiding most of the difference. Check the percentage first, then decide what the difference is worth to you.

Turn a hero total into a percentage

Pick a Town Hall, look up its cap in the table, and filter the shop by Town Hall and total hero levels to find villages above your threshold.

4. Builder Base is a separate check

The Builder Base has its own progression. The highest Builder Hall is 10, and its two heroes, the Battle Machine and the Battle Copter, have their own caps. A high Builder Hall tells you nothing about the Home Village heroes.

Builder Base hero caps by Builder Hall
Builder Hall Battle Machine Battle Copter
55–
610–
720–
82525
93030
103535

Keep these numbers out of the Home Village total. If a listing adds them together, ask for the two figures separately.

5. Hero Equipment is not hero level

Each hero carries two pieces of Equipment, and they follow their own rules. Common Equipment is upgraded at the Blacksmith. Epic Equipment comes from events and from the Hero Journey, and both types need Ore. Supercell's equipment guide explains the types. The important distinction is between having a piece and having upgraded it: a maxed hero can still wear Equipment at a low level. Ask for the Equipment levels as a separate line.

6. Five questions before you buy

  1. What are the Town Hall and the Hero Hall level?
  2. What is each of the six heroes, from a screenshot with all of them visible?
  3. What is the total, and does it include Dragon Duke?
  4. What are the Equipment levels, and which pieces are Epic?
  5. When was the screenshot taken? A Town Hall 18 figure from before 15 June 2026 is 15 levels short of today's cap.

The Clash of Clans account category lets you filter by Town Hall and by total hero levels. For the bigger picture of a rushed base, read our rushed base guide.

7. Four mistakes that cost money

Comparing totals across Town Halls

A total of 300 is 94% of the cap at Town Hall 14 and 63% at Town Hall 18. Always divide by the cap.

Trusting an old “maxed”

Caps rose in October 2025, November 2025 (Town Hall 18) and June 2026, and a sixth hero joined in 2026. “Maxed” has an expiry date.

Adding Builder Base machines

The Battle Machine and Copter belong to a different village and a different cap.

Counting Equipment as levels

Equipment is separate. A fully upgraded set does not raise the hero total.

Frequently asked questions

What is the highest Town Hall right now?

Town Hall 18, released on 17 November 2025. We found no announcement of a newer one as of 12 October 2026, but a new Town Hall would change the table.

When did the hero caps last change?

On 15 June 2026, when the Town Hall 18 caps of the Barbarian King and Archer Queen rose to levels 106 to 110 and that of the Grand Warden to levels 81 to 85. Dragon Duke followed the February 2026 update.

Is a rushed base always a bad choice?

Not always. Opinion in the community is split, and some players put little weight on heroes for resource farming. It becomes a problem when the price assumes a maxed village. Decide what you will do with the account first.

Does the total include Dragon Duke?

That depends on the source. Some trackers add only five heroes, others all six. Ask which figure a listing uses before comparing it with the table.

Can a high Builder Hall make up for low heroes?

No. The Builder Base is a separate village with its own heroes and its own cap.

Do older guides still apply?

Often not. Some levels moved to a lower Town Hall in October 2025, Dragon Duke only exists since 2026, and the Town Hall 18 caps of the Barbarian King, Archer Queen and Grand Warden rose in June 2026. Use guides dated after June 2026.
