Start with the original Season 2 context

Epic announced the Season 2 Battle Pass in December 2017. When discussing the original Black Knight, keep that season context attached to the name. “Season 2” without a chapter can be ambiguous in a game with many later chapters.

A guide about the original outfit should not quietly switch to a different knight-themed cosmetic halfway through. Check the full item name, item type and source before using a screenshot as evidence. This matters more than a generic “rare” label.

Items with similar names are not interchangeable

Epic lists The Black Knight as a separate Mystery Inc. back bling. Its Save the World reports also describe Black Knight Garridan as a hero. Neither entry establishes the availability of the original Battle Royale outfit.

What future Battle Pass rules do not establish

Epic’s August 2024 announcement allows items from future Battle Passes to become eligible for Item Shop offers after at least 18 months. Eligibility is not a promised shop date, and that future-pass wording is not a blanket announcement for every old pass.

Apply a simple evidence test to a return claim: does the announcement name the original outfit, describe the relevant edition and specify the offer? A general policy article, a recreated thumbnail or a similarly named shop item does not answer all three.

Avoid invented rarity and value claims

The outfit’s history does not reveal how many active owners remain, a guaranteed price or an account’s provenance. A cosmetic image is evidence of an image, not automatically evidence of original ownership or a complete account history.

For your own collection, verify the outfit entry and available styles in the Locker. For a claimed return, look for a new official announcement and compare the exact item. This guide does not promise that it will return, or that it can never return under any future policy.

Frequently asked questions

Does a Black Knight shop result prove the old outfit returned?

No. Check the exact name and item category; a back bling or hero is a different item.

Can I derive a guaranteed rarity ranking from its age?

No. Age and historical access do not provide a verified current owner count.
