R6 Nomad Guide: Airjab Placements and Flank Control
Nomad’s job is not to scatter Airjabs across the map. It is to make an important flank harder to use while the attack commits elsewhere.

Choose the flank before choosing the surface
Ubisoft describes Airjabs as non-lethal proximity pushback devices. They are not a substitute for clearing a route. Before placing one, identify where a defender could reach the rear or side of the attack.
A conceptual example is an attack moving from a cleared hallway towards a site while a staircase connects back into that hallway. The staircase is a candidate flank route because it reconnects behind the team. This does not establish a tested spot on a named map: verify the actual route, device placement and alternate access in a custom session.

Place for a response, not just an activation
Ask what your team will do if the Airjab activates. Someone should understand the route it covers and whether the attack continues, turns to the flank or holds an angle. Agree a short call before the execute rather than explaining the placement while the fight is happening.
Avoid treating one covered doorway as proof that an entire floor is safe. A nearby window, rotation or different staircase can bypass the route you chose. Draw the possible paths and inspect them from the defender’s direction. A visually hidden device is still poorly placed if the relevant enemy never needs to pass it.
A three-question placement test
Use this checklist before committing a device. It helps you judge the purpose of a spot without needing a list of fashionable placements.
| Question | What to check |
|---|---|
| Which movement does this cover? | A real flank into the area your team will use |
| Can the route be bypassed? | Other openings, vertical access and rotations |
| Who reacts to activation? | A named teammate and an agreed action |

Practice and weapon choice
In a custom session, reproduce one route and inspect the device from both directions. Ask a teammate to approach through the intended path and then through a bypass. Record the specific result rather than labeling the placement universally safe.
For weapons, the official operator page lists AK-74M and ARX200. Choose using the current loadout menu and your ability to control each option, not an unsupported universal attachment code. In a replay, review whether you died because of a gunfight or because the attack left an unprotected route. Those need different improvements.

Frequently asked questions
Do Airjabs replace flank checks?
No. Clear the route, consider bypasses and decide how the team reacts if a device activates.
Is this a list of tested map-specific spots?
No. It teaches placement decisions with a conceptual route example. Test specific spots in the current game before using them competitively.
