Fortnite Cosmetic Compatibility: LEGO, Festival & More

An item can be owned but unavailable in the mode you selected. Compatibility is a separate question from ownership.

Start with where you want to use it

Choose the experience first, then inspect the cosmetic. A wrap you use in Battle Royale, a LEGO Kit and a Festival aura have different jobs. Comparing them only by rarity ignores whether you can use them in your preferred mode.

The table below is a small orientation, not the full live compatibility catalog. Read Epic’s current table and the individual item information for exceptions, especially when a developer-made island sets its own supported features.

Item typeTypical compatibility check
OutfitMode and rating restrictions
WrapNot a universal LEGO or Festival cosmetic
AuraFestival use
LEGO KitLEGO-specific use
VehicleSupported mode, body and decal

Look for restrictions, not just item thumbnails

Some outfits and accessories have rating-related limits in particular islands. Epic describes icons in the Locker and shop for these restrictions. A vehicle decal can also require a specific body rather than fitting every car you own.

Kicks have their own outfit-compatibility check. Sidekick availability in a developer-made island depends on the developer enabling it. An item-count total cannot explain these practical differences; check the exact combination you want to equip.

Separate compatibility from a missing item

Check the item in the appropriate Locker category and in a supported experience. If it is present there but absent elsewhere, investigate compatibility first. If it is missing everywhere on the correct account, use the missing-item checks instead.

Before buying, read the current offer and compare it with where you actually play. A cosmetic can be appealing without being useful in every mode. Do not assume a later update will add unsupported use unless Epic announces it.

Frequently asked questions

Does owning an outfit guarantee use on every island?

No. Rating and experience restrictions can apply; inspect the item’s compatibility indicators.

Is an item lost if it is unavailable in LEGO?

Not necessarily. Check whether that item type supports the experience before investigating ownership.
