Fortnite Gifting Not Working? Requirements and Fixes
Before trying another payment, check whether this item and recipient can receive a gift at all.

Check sender and recipient separately
Confirm protection is enabled on the sending Epic account and that the friendship has lasted long enough. A platform friendship is not a substitute for the required Epic connection. Record when previous gifts were sent rather than expecting the limit to reset at midnight.
On the recipient side, check whether the item is already owned and whether the account can receive it. Epic also lists a nonnegative V-Bucks balance as a requirement. The recipient needs to sign in to claim the gift.
Is the item giftable?
Use the gift option offered by the current shop item. You cannot gift an old Locker item as a transfer. Epic excludes several categories, including V-Bucks and Crew; paid real-money offers have their own restrictions. Pass gifts can also stop near a season’s end.
A bundle may be blocked because the recipient already owns part of it. The displayed gift price can depend on the recipient’s ownership rather than your own discount. Read the final recipient and price before confirming: gifts are nonrefundable.

Handle a failure without duplicate spending
If requirements are satisfied, capture the exact error, item, recipient and time. Check transaction history before trying again, especially if currency changed. A missing gift and a blocked purchase require different evidence.
Do not create alternate accounts to bypass waiting periods or use third-party gift services that request a password. If a confirmed gift has not arrived after the recipient signs in, use Epic Support with its purchase reference.

Can I gift a skin I already own?
Not from your Locker. Gifting is an eligible new purchase, not an inventory transfer.
Does the five-gift limit reset at midnight?
Check the 24-hour period based on when the gifts were sent.
