R6 Siege Ranked 3.0:
Everything That Changes

No more hidden MMR, placement matches return, new Champion Division. Ranked 3.0 arrives in Year 11 Season 2 — here’s every confirmed change, why the community demanded it for years, and what it actually means for your rank.

Ranked 2.0 launched in December 2022 with Operation Solar Raid — and has been consistently criticised by the community ever since. The hidden MMR system meant that your visible rank said nothing about the actual lobby strength you were playing in. Silver players got matched against Diamonds. Copper players lost to Emeralds. Nobody understood why. In Year 11 Season 2, Ubisoft is changing that fundamentally: Ranked 3.0.

Here is everything officially confirmed — clearly explained, no speculation.

Release Date

Ranked 3.0 releases in Year 11 Season 2 — expected around May 2026. No exact date has been confirmed yet. The system will likely be tested in the Testing Grounds playlist before going live.

Why Ranked 2.0 Was a Problem

To understand what Ranked 3.0 fixes, you need to understand what Ranked 2.0 broke.

Ranked 2.0 completely separated the visible rank from the actual matchmaking rating (MMR). The visible rank system — Copper, Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Emerald, Diamond, Champion — showed your progression within the current season. The hidden MMR, however, was what actually decided who you played against.

The result: you could be displayed as Silver while your hidden MMR placed you in lobbies against Diamond players. Your opponents experienced the same in reverse. Neither you nor your teammates knew what level the lobby was actually playing at — the displayed rank said nothing about it.

The core problem in one sentence

In Ranked 2.0, your visible rank was cosmetic — it determined your season rewards, but not who you played against. The hidden MMR controlled matchmaking alone, invisibly, with no way for players to see or understand it.

On top of that, with no placement match at season start, every player began from Copper — including experienced Champions. This meant weeks of grinding through low ranks while the hidden MMR already knew you belonged much higher. The community called it “LP hell”: winning consistently but barely moving because the rank point system scaled incorrectly against the hidden MMR.

What Ranked 3.0 Changes — Every Confirmed Update

Everything Ubisoft has officially confirmed about the new system.

1
No More Hidden MMR — Rank = Skill

The most important change: hidden MMR as a separate matchmaking value is removed. In Ranked 3.0, the rank you see on your profile is the rank you play at. No more hidden parallel rating determining actual lobby strength. What you see is what you get — full transparency.

2
Placement Matches Return

Placement matches return at the start of each season. Your rank from the previous season influences where you place — you no longer blindly start from Copper. The system calibrates you based on your history, similar to how Ranked 1.0 worked. Play your placements, get placed at the right level, then climb from there.

3
Champion Splits Into 5 Subdivisions

The Champion rank — previously a single undifferentiated tier — splits into five subdivisions starting in week 7 of the season. Regional MMR leaderboards track the top players per region. The Top 100 players per region receive exclusive in-game charms as rewards. This creates a clearer competitive ceiling for the best players.

4
Faster and More Transparent Rewards

Rewards are distributed after 10 played matches and earned faster for wins. The reward system is directly tied to actual match results rather than an opaque progress bar disconnected from performance.

5
Stricter Mousetrap Rules

Alongside Ranked 3.0, Mousetrap enforcement is tightened: console players detected using mouse and keyboard will now be banned rather than just moved to the PC playlist. Simultaneously, native M&K support for consoles launches in Season 2 — players who officially use M&K queue with PC players in the same pool.

What this means for you

Frequently Asked Questions

Bottom Line

Ranked 3.0 is the change the community has been asking for since Ranked 2.0 launched. The core problem — visible rank saying nothing about actual lobby strength — is being addressed directly. No hidden MMR, fair placement matches at season start, and full transparency at every level.

Whether it delivers in practice will be seen from Season 2 onward. Early community reactions to the announcement are unusually positive for R6 Siege — which says something.
