Looking for a Clash of Clans account?

Compare Town Hall, heroes and trophies on every listing. This guide explains what Legend League numbers mean.

1. The three tiers

Supercell's Intro to Legend League says you enter Legend League III when you are promoted from Electro 33, and that the tiers run Legend III, Legend II and Legend I, with Legend I the highest.

How the Legend tiers differ
TierFormatHow you get in
Legend III and IIWeekly tournaments. Players compete in groups and are promoted or demoted on their results, like other Ranked Leagues.Sign up when the invite appears in the Attack menu, then confirm.
Legend IFour-week tournaments with local and global leaderboards by Trophy count.Sign up for the invite in the Attack menu and confirm. With auto sign-up on, you are signed up automatically.

Tapping “Sign up!” or “Join Tournament” does not enrol you by itself, because you have to confirm with the confirmation button. Auto sign-up switches off if you are demoted for inactivity and have not signed up for four weeks.

2. The 5,000 Trophy start and the top 10,000

Everyone who signs up for Legend I starts with 5,000 Trophies, and stays in consecutive Legend I seasons while they remain eligible. If you finish the week in Legend I below rank 10,000, you are demoted to Legend II. If you stay in Legend I but finish the week below 5,000 Trophies, your Trophies reset to 5,000 at the start of the next week.

According to Supercell, falling below rank 10,000 is the only way to leave Legend I. Signing up is optional, and you can keep playing regular Battles without joining a Legend I tournament.

3. Daily attacks and how Trophies move

Attacks per day8
Targets that can hit you8
Max Trophies per fight40
League Day resets5:00 UTC
Trophy rules in Legend I
SituationWhat Supercell says
AttackingYou start gaining Trophies once you inflict at least 10% damage. You do not need a star. With no damage, you gain no Trophies.
DefendingYou lose as many Trophies as the attacker gained. The attacker's overall Trophy count does not change the amount.
The capA maximum of 40 Trophies can be earned in an attack or lost in a defense.
Late sign-upIf you sign up near the end of a League Day, you may get fewer than eight targets, and you will show up as a target for fewer players.

Read trophies as a snapshot

Legend I resets every tournament. Compare the Town Hall, heroes and layout a listing shows with the rules in this guide.

4. Legend Trophies and the reset

If you end a Legend I tournament with more than 5,000 Trophies, the excess becomes Legend Trophies. The matchmaking and tournaments article says tournaments reset on Monday at 5:00 UTC and that everyone's Trophies then go back to 5,000. Legend Trophies you had before the October 2025 Ranked and Legend League rework are shown under “Legacy All-Time Best” on your profile.

Two numbers, two meanings. A Trophy count inside a tournament is live and resets. Legend Trophies are the excess you carried out of a finished Legend I tournament. A screenshot should show which of the two it is, and the date.

5. Matchmaking, layouts and shields

In Legend I you are matched with eight players each day. Supercell says the most important factor is Trophy count, so you face players with a similar count, and matchmaking may take longer for players with very high Trophy counts. A snapshot of your layout at the start of each League Day is used for matchmaking, and changes to your layout or Clan Castle troops only take effect on the next League Day. Revenge is not available.

Magic Shields have no effect in Legend I, and only protect against attacks in regular Battle mode. Legend Shields, bought in the Shop, are exclusive to Legend I and take effect on the next League Day. All Legend tiers share the same League Bonus, and Supercell calls it the highest of any league.

6. What a Legend number on a listing proves

Reading Legend League on an account
DetailWhat it showsWhat it does not show

Trophies say little about the base itself. Our hero levels guide and rushed base checklist cover what to read first.

7. Five questions before you buy

  1. What is the Town Hall level, and what are the hero levels for it?
  2. Is the Legend number a live Trophy count, Legend Trophies or a legacy figure?
  3. What is the date of the screenshot?
  4. Was the account active in Legend I recently, or is the figure old?
  5. Are layouts, heroes and trophies shown as separate facts?

8. Four mistakes people make

Using pre-October-2025 rules

Supercell reworked Ranked and Legend League in October 2025.

Treating the tournament count as permanent

It goes back to 5,000 when a tournament resets (Monday, 5:00 UTC), and after any week you finish below 5,000.

Mixing live and legend Trophies

Legend Trophies are the excess from a finished Legend I tournament.

Valuing trophies over the base

Heroes and Town Hall decide what the account can do.
