Fortnitemares 2026 skins so far

Epic Games started Fortnitemares 2026 on 1 October 2026 with update v42.30, inside Chapter 7 Season 4: Override. The v42.30 Communities post says the event runs until 1 November. The Five Nights at Freddy's outfits were in the Item Shop on day one, and Epic Games said the other collabs would follow "throughout October".

That is 20 outfits so far. Epic Games' 1 October post also named Hollow Knight, Beetlejuice and Predator: Badlands. Hollow Knight reached the shop on 8 October as a Sidekick (The Knight) with a pickaxe and back bling, not as an outfit, and no Beetlejuice or Predator: Badlands outfit had appeared in the shop data by 23 October. The October Crew outfit, Osric the Uninvited, has a Halloween theme too, but it is a Crew Pack item, so it is not counted here (see our Crew skins list).

Gold Punk is the free outfit this year. Epic Games' help article says you get it when you redeem a Fortnite Gift Card (not a V-Bucks Card) from 2 to 31 October 2026, one per account. The game files also hold a Jack-a-Nape outfit added on 1 October with no Item Shop record; guides describe it as the reward for 26 Fortnitemares quests, but the Epic Games posts we read do not mention it, so treat that as unconfirmed.

Every Fortnitemares by year: dates and free rewards

Fortnitemares has run every October since 2017. The dates below are the ones Epic Games published in each year's post. The free rewards are the ones those posts list for Battle Royale; Save the World had its own rewards and is left out.

Two things stand out. The 2017 update 1.8 was the patch that added the Item Shop and the Locker to Battle Royale, so Skull Trooper and Ghoul Trooper were among the first skins ever sold. And none of the Epic Games posts for 2017 to 2025 names a free outfit: the free rewards were gliders, pickaxes, back blings, wraps and emotes until the Gold Punk card promotion in 2026.

This is the full list behind the counts above. The 2019 Final Reckoning pack (Catrina, Willow, Blacklight) and several 2020 sets were sold as packs, and Driftwalker came in the Graveyard Drift Quest Pack, so they have no normal Item Shop listing. The Inkquisitor (November 2022) and Shimmerdusk (October 2023) are Crew outfits that the wiki lists with those editions.

Each year has a theme. 2018 brought Cube Monsters and the reactive Deadfire outfit, 2019 the Storm King and the Dead Ball soccer zombies, 2020 Shadow Midas, and 2021 the Cube Queen. Since 2023 the event has leaned on horror licences: Michael Myers, Leatherface, Ghost Face, Jason, Freddy Krueger and Freddy Fazbear.

Rarest Fortnitemares skins: not in the shop for years

Most Fortnitemares skins return every October. The ones below have not. The shop history comes from the fortnite-api.com mirror of the game data and counts the days an outfit was listed in the Item Shop. A one-off entry dated 6 December 2023 that appears on 144 items at once (the start of Chapter 5) is a data quirk; none of the outfits below carries it.

The Ghostbusters set stands out: ten outfits, 21 shop days each, and none of them listed since 1 December 2021. Licensed outfits can stay away much longer than Fortnite originals, which is why an account with the 2020 Ghostbusters outfits is harder to find today than one with Skull Trooper.

Fortnitemares outfits that were never sold as single shop items

These Halloween outfits have no Item Shop listing in the game data. They came in packs, bundles, the Crew subscription or a quest pack, so the only way to own them was to buy that offer at the time.

For the free event rewards, the rule is the same as for other quest items: they were tied to that year's quests and Epic Games has not sold them since. Our rarest gliders and back blings list covers several of them.

The Halloween skins that come back every year

At the other end, the classics return almost every October. Skull Trooper leads with 144 shop days since 30 October 2017. If you only want the look, waiting for October is usually enough; see how the Item Shop rotation works.

Fortnitemares 2026 ends on 1 November, the same day the Override Battle Pass ends.
